A 30-day mask requirement will be in effect for adults throughout all Volusia County Schools.

Volusia County Schools announced Wednesday that all adults, including employees, parents, volunteers, and other visitors, will be required to wear a face-covering (mask or shield) in all Volusia County Schools and its facilities for 30-days. 

According to a release, this requirement will begin on Thursday, August 12, and is in effect until September 11. 

Superintendent Dr. Scott Fritz will re-evaluate the mask requirement as more information comes in, and the district will relax the measure as soon as it is practical.

Face coverings for students will remain optional; however, Dr. Fritz recommends all students wear a mask or face shield when indoors and near other people at school. The Superintendent is also encouraging those who are twelve years of age and older to get the vaccine. Families have the right to choose the option of not wearing a face covering for their student(s), and no one should experience harassment per the Florida Department of Education’s emergency rule.

Anyone who is sick or experiencing symptoms of illness is encouraged to stay home.
