City of Daytona Beach to host three vaccine clinics

A new surge of COVID-19 cases hit Florida last week, the highest case surge since the summer of 2020. The Florida Department of Health reported over 45,000 new cases from July 9 to July 15.

In response to the case surges, the City of Daytona Beach will host three community vaccination clinics offering the Moderna vaccine, to combat the pandemic. Volusia County residents can receive a $25 gift card for each shot, totaling $50 for the two-shot series.

“When COVID vaccines were first introduced, we saw a lot of people eager to protect their health, but now we are seeing people on the fence. We want to incentivize those people to get vaccinated,” said Mayor Henry. 

Family Health Source will be administering the vaccines, and all residents who are not vaccinated are encouraged to protect themselves.

Dates and times of upcoming city-sponsored vaccination clinics are:

• Tuesday, August 10 - 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Dickerson Community Center, off Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

• Wednesday, August 11 - 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the Midtown Community Center, off George W. Engram Blvd.

• Thursday, August 12 - 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Schnebly Rec Center, off N. Atlantic Ave.
