Daytona Beach's Drug Abuse Response Team (DART) and various organizations are joining forces to raise awareness for National Fentanyl Awareness Week. On Thursday, May 11, 2023, from 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. (weather permitting), the team will hold a Street Walk along Ridgewood Avenue.
The Daytona Beach Fire Department initiated the DART program in January 2021 with hopes of finding drug recovery assistance for those who recently overdosed.
The Street Walk will consist of around 20-30 people who will begin the walk at the intersection of Beville Road and Ridgewood Avenue and head northbound towards the North Street and Ridgewood Avenue intersection as their endpoint. They will interact with individuals encountered and provide valuable resource information, including packets, to those seeking recovery from substance use. The team will work in person to assist those in need and provide additional information on social services on top of mental and health-related items.
The following organizations will be a part of the walk – Daytona Beach Fire Department (Community Paramedicine), Daytona Beach Police Department, SMA Healthcare, Halifax Medical Center, Volusia Recovery Alliance, Volusia Department of Health, and Foundations of Freedom.
