The Dancing Avocado Kitchen (DAK) was started by Mario and Angela Stemberger along with their family. The DAK has opened for business since June 1998. As for the grass roots nature of the DAK, the entire Stemberger family was born just minutes from where our restaurant is currently nestled, in the Daytona’s historic downtown. As a non-legalistic health concept eatery, they opened their doors 10+ years ago. While doing so, they opened their arms to healthy tummies from around the globe.
The heart of their mission included helping people enjoy real food. The type of food that is not overly processed, overly seasoned or overly prepared (we don’t rough up the food). Visitors choose from our outdoor café or vibrant (some say funky) dining room. In accordance with the original French definition of restaurant, our desire is to revive those that visit each day. The idea is to be fed, to be rested, to be hydrated; it is our goal to prepare you for the next best part of your day.
Some of our core values are more visible than others. Such can be observed during your avocado experience by our refreshing smoothies that lack artificial ingredients, fresh juices squeezed to order, our incredible friendly staff, who are always exuberant to counsel our guests through a successful meal experience. Other features to our business are less visible. You may not notice special filtration on the ice machine, maybe the air quality of a sanitary ozinated interior, or the comprehensive recycling program which allows your debris to seamlessly go to the right places. All of these things occur before and after you set in to the Earth burger, fire and ice cucumber salad, tye dye coleslaw, our iguana vegetables, vegan bacon or any number of our vegan options. Perhaps you find yourself more on the carnivorous path… We simultaneously offer one of the best hamburgers, grilled salmon tacos and tinga chicken in the historic downtown area. Whether you’re passing through from Amsterdam, or Canada are in town for business, bikinis or if you’re on lunch break from work right around the corner; we want your avocado experience to be fantastic!
