The Daytona Beach Police Department announced the successful launch of "Operation One by One," a proactive and relentless effort to apprehend narcotic dealers and disrupt their operations during a press conference today at 3 p.m., wherein Police Chief Jakari Young addressed the media and provided crucial insights into the operation's remarkable achievements.
Chief Young began the conference by stressing the significance of Operation One by One in sending a clear message to those involved in the illicit drug trade. "One by one, they will be apprehended," stated Chief Young.
Since the beginning of the year, the Daytona Beach Police Department has conducted 50 smaller operations under Operation One by One. These operations employed a multifaceted approach, including surveillance, undercover work, and source intelligence, leading to state charges against approximately 25 suspects.
Throughout the operation, law enforcement officials confiscated 225 grams of crack/cocaine, 200 grams of fentanyl, and 75 grams of methamphetamine. These seizures have not only disrupted the flow of drugs; but have also been instrumental in identifying the root cause behind the recent uptick in violence within Daytona Beach - a direct result of narcotic sales.
"We are sending a strong message to those looking to profit off of the misery of addiction and inflict harm on innocent lives," Chief Young said.
The Daytona Beach Police Department executed targeted warrants to apprehend key individuals involved in the sale of narcotics in Daytona Beach, arresting 11 out of the 25 suspects. Detectives from the Special Investigations Unit at the Daytona Beach Police Department continue to work tirelessly on Operation One by One, diligently pursuing the remaining suspects.
"This operation is not just about making arrests," Chief young said. "It's about reclaiming our streets and making a safer community for all of us."
