An Oklahoma Man, who was named a person of interest in a quadruple murder out of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, was arrested by Daytona Beach Shores Department of Public Safety on Tuesday, October 18, 2022.
According to a release, Daytona Beach Shores Public Safety Officer Laura Diedesch was conducting traffic enforcement on South Atlantic Avenue (A1A) at 8:29 a.m. Tuesday when her patrol vehicle’s license plate reader alerted her that a passing Toyota Tundra pickup truck was reported stolen out of Oklahoma. Officer Diedesch called for backup. Two other Daytona Beach Shores officers and a Beach Safety officer responded, stopping the vehicle near the Botefuhr Beach Approach in Daytona Beach Shores.
Joseph L. Kennedy II, 67, of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, was listed as a missing person, and an Oklahoma agency informed the Daytona Beach Shores Public Safety Division that Kennedy was a person of interest in a quadruple homicide that occurred earlier this month.
Kennedy was charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle and is in custody at the Volusia County Branch Jail with no bond.
