Daytona Beach’s popular summer camp program will begin Monday, June 7, and continue through Friday, Aug. 6, with safety protocols in place due to the pandemic.

According to a release, the nine-week program is for children ages 5 to 16 years old and will be from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday - closed Monday, July 5, in observance of Independence Day.

Breakfast and lunch, sports, crafts, and games are provided at the summer camps. Due to the pandemic, camp participants will be reduced to 50 percent occupancy, and there are no field trips planned.

There are four sites in Daytona Beach for the summer camps:

  • Midtown Community Center, 925 George W. Engram Blvd.
  • Schnebly Recreation Center, 1101 N. Atlantic Ave.
  • Sunnyland Park, 825 Washington St.
  • YSG Community Center, 1000 Vine St.

Registration for the summer camps is open to current after-school participants through Friday, April 30, at the city’s Leisure Services office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Registration for the general public will begin Monday, May 3. Acceptance for a summer camp spot is on a first-come, first-served basis.

The summer camp registration fee is waived for this year, and the cost for the nine-week program is $270 per participant. A payment plan of $30 per week is available.

Volusia County Summer Scholarship vouchers, when available, will be accepted by the Leisure Services Department. For more information, call (386) 671-8337.
