Students, alumni, and avid supporters of Bethune-Cookman University (B-CU) in Daytona Beach are gearing up for an exciting Homecoming celebration set to take place on Saturday, October 14. Festivities will kick off with a parade at 9 a.m., followed by a face-off between the B-CU Wildcats and the formidable Texas Southern University Tigers in a SWAC conference game at Daytona Stadium off LPGA Boulevard in Daytona Beach at 3 p.m.
The Homecoming Parade will commence at 9 a.m., starting from the rear of Daytona Mall, and parade participants will march eastward along Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard until they reach the practice field on B-CU’s campus. Certain intersections will be closed to all traffic, including Nova Road/MMB, Lincoln Street/MMB, and Dr. MLK Boulevard, and detour routes will be marked to guide drivers through alternative paths.
Inbound traffic is expected to begin immediately following the parade and be heavy from noon to 3 p.m. near Daytona Stadium. Once the parking lots at Daytona Stadium reach capacity, traffic will be redirected to Father Lopez Catholic High School, ensuring everyone finds a place to park. Pedestrian crosswalks will be in place, and one-way traffic patterns will not be in effect on LPGA Blvd.
The Daytona Beach Police Department will be on duty to facilitate traffic control on West International Speedway Boulevard and LPGA Boulevard following the game.
Residents residing in LPGA Boulevard neighborhoods should brace for significant delays in the vicinity. Daytona Beach city officials advise residents to consider alternative routes to reach their destinations smoothly and efficiently.
