The City of Daytona Beach announced a recovery grant program to assist qualified homeowners, renters, and business owners impacted by Hurricanes Ian and Nicole. The application deadline for these grants is July 31, 2023.

The city commissioners have approved the allocation of $2.5 million, combining federal and state funds, to provide grants of up to $9,000 for eligible residents. These grants help individuals cover various expenses such as insurance deductibles, home repairs, mold and flood damage remediation, mortgage assistance, and rent payments.

For businesses with fewer than 50 employees, the program offers reimbursement of up to $3,000. This financial aid can address issues such as the cost of spoiled food, lost revenue, insurance deductibles, and repairs.

The grants will be awarded on a first-qualified, first-served basis until the funds are gone.

To qualify for the homeowner and renter grants, annual household income for applicants must not exceed the Area Median Income (AMI) thresholds provided by the city. See the provided table below for income limits.

Homeowners must provide picture identification for household members over 18, a delinquent mortgage statement, paid invoices or receipts for deductibles and mold remediation, recent pay stubs for all employed household members, and one month's worth of current bank statements.

Renters must submit documentation supporting their displacement on or after October 2, 2022. They must also provide copies of social security cards and picture identification for household members over 18, an active lease agreement with the landlord's legal details, recent bank statements or financial history, paystubs for all employed household members, a utility bill for residency confirmation, and any relevant documents such as dissolution of marriage or child support orders.

Grants are also available to businesses located within the city limits of Daytona Beach and cover costs and losses related to Hurricanes Ian and Nicole.

To be eligible for a business grant, applicants must possess a current Business Tax Receipt issued by the City of Daytona Beach, with the required documented evidence of costs or losses at their Daytona Beach business location associated with the hurricanes. The maximum assistance amounts a business can receive is $3,000 or the insurance deductible, whichever is lower. These funds can go towards repair costs, lost revenues, insurance deductibles, and spoiled food or damaged personal property replacement.

It is important to note that applicants must demonstrate that they have filed for recovery from their insurance carrier (if insured) or FEMA.

For more information on the recovery grant program and the application process, interested individuals and business owners are encouraged to visit the City of Daytona Beach's official website or contact the designated authorities.
