The Daytona Beach Police Department arrested Jayla Monet Fisher, 19, of Daytona Beach, in the shooting of two men at a riverside apartment complex during a fight with another woman Thursday morning.
Units responded to Tzadik Bay Apartments on 1215 South Beach Street around 9 a.m. when the dispute turned physical between another woman and Fisher, who retrieved a gun during the fight and fired it several times at the other woman.
The other woman involved in the fight was a 20-year-old Volusia County resident, who did not get hit with any bullets. However, two male bystanders, unfortunately, were hit in the shooting.
According to a release, the first victim, a 19-year-old Volusia County resident, was in the parking lot observing the fight but was not directly involved. He was shot in the arm and left the scene on his own to get treatment at Halifax Health Medical Center (HHMC) in Daytona Beach. His condition is not life-threatening.
The other victim is a 78-year-old man who lives at the apartment complex and was also not directly involved in the incident. He was in his residence when one of the bullets went through a glass window and struck him on the side of his upper torso. Paramedics transported him from the scene to Halifax Health Medical Center for treatment. His condition is also not life-threatening.
Fisher fled the scene and was taken into custody at her Acklins Circle residence an hour after the shooting occurred. She faces two felony charges of aggravated battery and one misdemeanor charge of simple battery. She will be booked at Volusia County Jail later today.
