The COVID-19 vaccination site, at the Daytona Stadium off of LPGA, has reached its daily limit as of 6:00 a.m. Monday.
Only 1,000 Moderna vaccines were available for Volusia County seniors (65 and over) today at the vaccine distribution site, and gates had to be closed, hours before distribution of the vaccine were scheduled.
Cars started parking near the stadium Sunday night, against requests from Law Enforcement and County Officials, to not camp out for the first come first serve distribution event.
A Police Officer, located near the stadium's entrance, was turning people away and notifying them to come back closer to 7 a.m. That did not discourage those wanting a vaccine to find parking spots near the South Entrance or across the street from the Stadium, to camp at for the night.
The vaccination site was first announced last week and will return in 28-days to provide the second dose to those who were able to receive their vaccines in this round. While vaccine supply is limited, officials are expecting to open up more vaccine distribution sites in the future.
Another 1,000 vaccines will be available tomorrow, Tuesday, January 5 from 9 a.m. to 4. p.m., or until capacity for the day has been reached.
