The city of Daytona Beach is teaming up with the Florida Department of Health in Volusia County to provide free flu shots to the Midtown area, Tuesday, December 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a rain date of Friday, December 11.
According to health officials, this year it’s important than ever to get a flu shot. It is possible to have the flu and COVID-19 at the same time.
The free flu shot site will be located off of Jean Street, at the same location where Sandbags are available when preparing for a hurricane.
The CDC recommends that anyone age six months and older get a flu vaccine. They are also highly recommended for:
- People age 65 and older
- Pregnant women
- Infants over six months of age
- People with weakened immune systems or long-term health problems (such as asthma, diabetes, or kidney disease)
Persons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent who can sign a consent form. Residents with questions about the free flu shots can call the health department at (386) 274-0500.
Officials are asking those interested to download and print the following form(s) below, fill out the questionnaire(s) and bring them with you for the free flu shot.
