The Town of Ponce Inlet regretfully announced Thursday that Mary Hoss, a long-term Council Member, and town volunteer, has passed away. Councilwoman Hoss resigned from her position on the Town Council on March 8th, 2021, due to health reasons, stating that she had enjoyed her time on Council and serving the Town.
According to a release, Ms. Hoss served on the Town Council from November 2011 through March 2021 and as Vice-Mayor from November 2012 to November 2020. Ms. Hoss served as a volunteer on the Town’s boards for 18 years. She first served on the Board of Adjustments and then on the Planning Board before being selected by her peers to serve as chairperson.
Mary Hoss was selected as Ponce Inlet’s Citizen of the Year in 2016 and received the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019 for her consistent volunteer efforts in the community.
She leaves behind three sons, a daughter, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held locally by her family at a future date.
