Traffic was tied up for several hours Saturday, February 17 on the southbound side of I-95 in Daytona Beach near LPGA Blvd. from around 7:30 p.m. Police say a suspected drunk man struggled with police after being tased and walked into traffic getting hit by several cars.
A trooper stopped a 40-year-old man from Jacksonville because they thought he was possibly drunk. Investigators say the trooper told the man to stay in the car, but he didn't listen. That's when the trooper tased him, which led to a brief struggle on the side of the road. Soon after, troopers say the man walked into oncoming traffic, where he got hit by several cars. First responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
The incident is still under investigation
