The Holly Hill Police Department has identified Kurtis Maurice Elliott, 22, as a person of interest in Monday’s shooting at the After Shine Car Wash, located at 1757 N. Nova Road Unit# 107 in Holly Hill, that led to the death of 24-year-old Lawrence Davis.
Mr. Davis and Mr. Elliott became involved in a verbal argument that turned physical when a single gunshot was heard. Davis sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to AdventHealth Daytona Beach on Williamson Boulevard by his brother, who was also at the scene. Due to the severity of his injuries, Davis was transported to Halifax Health as a trauma alert and rushed into the operating room for life-saving measures. Shortly after arrival, Mr. Davis succumbed to his injuries.
Davis and Elliott were friends and frequently hung out at the After Shine Car Wash.
According to police, Elliott has multiple warrants out of Volusia County with nationwide extradition for failure to appear, burglary of an occupied dwelling, resisting an officer, and fleeing and eluding.
Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Mr. Elliott should contact Investigator Barrett at 386-248-9486, abarrett@hollyhillfl.org, or the Holly Hill Police Department at 386-248-9475.
