The City of Daytona Beach has announced its open registration for the Mayor’s Swim Club, an initiative started by Mayor Derrick Henry that works to ensure all youth in Daytona Beach learn how to swim.

According to a release, swim lessons are for children ages six to ten, with participants divided into three groups: beginner, intermediate and advanced.

Each group lesson is broken into 30-minute sessions starting with beginners at 4:30 every Monday and Wednesday at Cypress Aquatic Center, off George W. Engram Boulevard. Additional swim lessons will be held every Tuesday and Thursday, starting with beginners at 4:30 p.m. at Campbell Aquatic Center, on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Lessons are $30 per participant for a total of eight sessions.

Financial scholarships are available for qualifying youth.

Registration is at the Cypress Aquatic Center and is open from noon to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. For more information, call (386) 671-8393 or visit www.codb.us/SwimLessons.
