According to a release from the City of Daytona Beach, street lighting improves the quality of life in neighborhoods by making residents, motorists and pedestrians feel safer.
The City of Daytona Beach has more than 7,000 streetlights throughout the city. FPL maintains most of them, with a team of four city employees from the traffic division, by visually inspecting the lighting systems twice a month from the hours of 4 a.m. to 7 a.m.
Residents are encouraged to also report lighting concerns.
When reporting a lighting concern, take note of the light’s location – including nearby cross streets – the number on the pole, and any other identifying information of the light in question.
To report a streetlight that’s not working, flickering or if the LED is purple, call (386) 671-8659.
