During the Volusia County daily briefing press conference, County Chair Ed Kelley announced 14 vehicular access beach ramps in seven different sections will be opening up tomorrow morning, ahead of projected beach crowds for Mother’s Day weekend.

The selected ramps are from Ormond beach, South to New Smyrna Beach, and include the following ramps;

  • Granada Blvd.
  • Cardinal Dr.
  • Williams Ave.
  • Seabreeze Blvd.
  • Silver Beach Ave.
  • Florida Shores Blvd.
  • Van Ave.
  • El Portal St.
  • Dunlawton Blvd.
  • Beach St.
  • Beachway Ave.
  • Crawford Rd.
  • Flagler Ave.
  • 3rd Ave.

These ramps will allow areas for beach parking, and not beach driving which is still closed at this time. Vehicular access sections are the only spots on the beach where vehicles are allowed on the beaches.

There will be posts that signify parking spaces on the beach, a conservation zone post (spaced every 50 feet), and a blue marking post (spaced at the 25 ft mark between conservation posts). Parking is mandatory at a post, to ensure social distancing while enjoying the beach.

Annual Beach passes will also not be sold until Monday, May 11, but for those wishing to purchase a pass this weekend will be able to pay for the day and save their receipt. Residents have 30 days to bring the receipt to a toll operator, to pay the difference and receive an annual pass.

For those who have purchased a beach annual pass before March 20, 2020, you will be credited for 57 days on your pass, which is now valid for 365-days from the date of purchase.

Beach Safety will be monitoring weekend weather and tide changes. These factors could potentially affect parking on the beach and incur a few ramp closures. For updates follow Volusia County Beaches on Facebook and Twitter, visit Volusia.org/beach, or download Volusia Beaches mobile app.
