Special Election to be held for City of Daytona Beach Zone 2.

On August 4, 2021, the City of Daytona Beach City Commission approved an ordinance calling for a Special Municipal Election to fill the vacated seat in Zone 2, as per the city’s charter. Commissioner Aaron Delgado, the representative of Zone 2, announced his resignation from the City Commission last week after purchasing a home outside the Zone 2 area.
The city’s Special Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, September 21, with a voter registration deadline of Monday, August 23. A Special General Election will also take place on Tuesday, November 2, with a voter registration deadline of Monday, October 4.
Qualified candidates can submit applications to the City Clerk, Letitia LaMagna, the designated qualifying official for city elections. The qualifying period begins on Monday, August 16, and runs through noon on Friday, August 20. Applicants will be contacted after the qualifying period to schedule an appointment with the City Clerk to review the requirements and necessary paperwork.
Potential candidates must reside in Zone 2 for at least six months before the first day of the qualification period and contact the City Clerk at (386) 671-8023.
