According to a new blog post from Collen Tressler of the Federal Trade Commission, posts are circulating various social media sites, regarding a special “Medical Exemption Card,” that allows the holder to be medically exempt from wearing face masks due to a disability, it’s illegal for any business to ask them to disclose their condition.

These cards vary in what they look like but include the seal of the U.S Department of Justice (DOJ), which is one of the many federal agencies responsible for the Americans with Disabilities (ADA).

The FTC warns people that these cards are not issued or endorsed by the DOJ or another federal agency.

DOJ urges the public not to rely on the information contained in these postings, and to visit ADA.gov for ADA information issued by the agency.
