On April 14th of this year, 11th-graders will be taking the SAT during a normal school day, and The College Board is in the process of scheduling a date in the Fall for 12th-graders.

This outcome is thanks to a push from Superintendent Scott Fritz proposed when he took over the superintendent role earlier this school year.

In the past, the SAT cost $50 and was taken on a Saturday morning. The college readiness exam examines the abilities of students in Language Arts and Math. The reasoning behind the action taken by Fritz is “to increase performance and further access the exam to those of low-income families.”

The contract with the college board was approved for $151,938, and the district was given a discount of $66,000 for students on the free and reduced lunch program.
