The Daytona Beach Fire Department has announced that it will be teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Fire Prevention Week, October 9 – 15, 2022.
The theme of this year's campaign is “Fire won’t wait. Plan your escape," to educate people about the simple yet important actions taken to keep themselves and those around them safe from house fires.
According to a release, the Fire Department is also partnering with the American Red Cross and Al Smith Productions to host an event supporting this year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign at the Downtown Daytona Nights Food Truck Rally on Friday, October 7, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Activities at the event will include:
- Fire extinguisher demonstrations for adults and children
- Smoke alarm installation sign-up
- Maze for children to practice using escape plans
- Blood pressure checks
- Firefighters with a fire engine available to answer general questions
