Daytona Beach PD offers free social media safety session.

The Daytona Beach Police Department will host a free training session at the Piggotte Community Center at 504 Big Tree Road in South Daytona to educate the public on the potential dangers of social media sites, video games, and apps on February 27, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The one-hour training session, led by Sergeant Tim Ehrenkaufer of the Daytona Beach Police Department, will teach parents and children how to recognize signs of “Social Media Recruitment” and how dangerous individuals will lure victims on the internet through popular social media sites, video games, and apps. Attendees will learn about known suspicious phone applications and how to spot fake individuals and websites.

According to the Eventbrite page for the event, children that attend the training will receive two community service hours through SED/NET.
