To enhance civic engagement and provide residents with a comprehensive understanding of local governance, the City of Daytona Beach is accepting applications for its 2024 Citizens Academy, a nine-week initiative that aims to empower residents by offering an insider's view of the inner workings of municipal services.
Beginning on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, the academy will provide an interactive platform every Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. to noon until March 12, 2024. With a limited class size of 25 participants, the program offers a hands-on experience, allowing individuals to engage directly with various city departments.
The academy covers various city services, ensuring participants learn crucial municipal functions. Conducted by senior city staff, the sessions will explore departments such as Utilities, Public Works, City Clerk, Parks & Recreation, City Manager's Office, Finance, Police, Fire, Code Compliance, Human Resources, and more.
