Free steering wheel locks for Hyundai and Kia owners in Daytona Beach

To curb auto theft in the Daytona Beach area, the Daytona Beach Police Department has initiated a proactive measure by providing complimentary steering wheel locks to owners of specific Hyundai and Kia models that are more susceptible to theft. This initiative aims to enhance vehicle security and reduce car theft within the community.
The free steering wheel locks will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last, at the front desk of the Daytona Beach Police Department at 129 Valor Boulevard in Daytona Beach.
To be eligible for a free steering wheel lock, individuals must fulfill the following criteria:
- Present a valid ID with proof of residency in Daytona Beach.
- Provide current vehicle registration.
The eligible Hyundai and Kia vehicle models for the free steering wheel locks include:
- 2017-2021 Hyundai Elantra’s
- 2015-2019 Hyundai Sonatas
- 2020-2021 Hyundai Venues
- 2012-2022 Kia Sportage’s
- 2011-2021 Kia Optima’s
- 2011-2021 Kia Sorento’s
- 2011-2021 Kia Souls
The front desk at the Daytona Beach Police Department is open to distribute these locks from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
