The International Speedway Boulevard beach access point in Daytona Beach is getting a makeover. In a unanimous vote this week the Volusia County Council approved construction plans with Paul Culver Construction for a more than $2.2 million renovation. The project will include landscaping, more parking spaces, bike racks, upgraded sidewalks and lighting, and underground utilities. The "World's Most Famous Beach" sign will move slightly and have new lighting that adheres to Volusia County's sea-turtle regulations. The signature blue concrete in the area will be replaced with non-blue concrete. The removal of colored concrete from the project saved $384,000.
