A single-rider adult male on a motorcycle, who ran a red light, hit a Daytona Beach Fire Truck across from Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach just before 10 a.m. Wednesday morning.
According to a release, the fire truck was turning onto Mayberry Avenue from Clyde Morris Boulevard when the motorcyclist ran the red light from the opposite direction, striking the driver-side corner of the front bumper of the fire engine, causing him to wreck. The firefighters inside the fire truck immediately jumped out to treat the injured male, who was not wearing a helmet. Due to the extent of his injuries, the motorcyclist was labeled as a trauma alert and transported by EVAC to Halifax Hospital.
The firefighters had no injuries to report, and a quick assessment showed no damage to the fire engine. However, the fire truck will undergo a thorough check once the preliminary investigation by Daytona Beach Police Department is complete.
