Suspect arrested after making electronic threats of a school shooting at Father Lopez Catholic High School in Daytona Beach.

The Daytona Beach Police Department was contacted early Monday morning by a representative from Father Lopez Catholic High School regarding a reported threat of a school shooting on their campus.

Police officers quickly developed a suspect, Colin Boyer, 18, of Ormond Beach. The Daytona Beach Police Department requested help from the Ormond Beach Police Department, who responded to the Boyer’s address.

During an interview, Boyer admitted to officers that he made the threat via social media.

“I am very proud of the individual(s) that came forward and reported this incident. The suspect in this case was quickly identified, contacted, interviewed, and appropriately charged in this situation. This is great example of the “See something, Say something” doctrine and teamwork between the school and local law enforcement agencies,” said Ormond Beach Police Chief Jesse Godfrey.  

Boyer was arrested and charged with Written or Electronic Threats to Kill or Injure and is currently in custody and held with no bond at the Volusia County Branch Jail.
